no matter where i go, or how long i've been away from the house that i grew up in, whenever i bury my nose in Liz and take a big whif, she smells exactly like my old living room.  which, largely, is a neutral smell.  the smell of solid oak floors, leather sofa, somewhat musty oriental rug, and old electricity.  the smell of ozone.  you know it.  the smell of an old sewing machine.  an electric train set.  the brushes of an old motor.  that is what Liz smells of.

tonight, she smells of cake.  and i'm not sure why.  but i'd like to know what is causing it so that i may bring an end to this.  she smells of pink and purple sloppily piped roses of cheap icing on the top of a stop & shop birthday cake.  and i don't like it one bit.  i'm thinking of where i can put her so that she re-absorbs her old smell back.

i have an mri tomorrow.  really, i'd like to go running.  i'd rather be out running than laying here sniffing Liz.  more to come on that.
