it's a new year, and i've registered for another marathon. i'm not
one for making new years resolutions, however this time last year, i
was starting fresh- a clean slate and a whole lot of unknowns. i was
too excited to start thinking about improving what i wasn't yet certain
of so i took a leap (many leaps) of faith and forged ahead blindly in
forward progression.
i've settled into my improved
existence, and am actually in a position to kick my heels up, rest back
on my laurels, raise a glass of Veuve, and toast to everything i know,
love, and appreciate. appreciate being a key word. i've not reinvented
myself. i still love the color teal sparkly, clandestine
indiscretions by moonlight, laughing until no sound comes out, and
running down the street after Bing. i love making music with the double
bass and clicking my ski boots into those tight bindings. i love late
night pilates under the stars, that feeling when you nail a difficult
recipe, and turning power tools on when i'm wearing ear protection. i
love regatta weekends, the anxiety of marathon mornings, and the smell
of a brand new issue of Runners World Magazine.
moreover, i love the sound the cork makes as it leaves a bottle of Veuve
Clicquot. so if i have to make any resolution this year, it will be to
drink champagne. frequently. and to always toast to everything that
makes enjoying it possible. blood in the veins. air in the lungs... i'm celebrating over here.
