at 8:00pm on the fourth i did a fifteen miler.  i did not go to the shipyard to see the firework display.  not at all sentimental these days.  i think that is the biggest change i have gone through in the last year.  absolutely not sentimental at all.  about anything.  throw it all away.  if you don't need it RIGHT now, it's useless.  i'm still thinking of a clever way to dispose of several pair of my ex's  cufflinks.   i figure a burial at sea would be too good of an exit for them, so i'll probably just carelessly drop them in the bathroom rubbish bin with my used tampons while cleaning my room this week.  but even that may be too good for them.  afterall- that is marathon runner bodily fluid we're talking about.

as you're running, you leave a piece of you behind at every mile.   and with every new mile, you acquire a new part of you.  it's just like sailing.  and the cells on the palm of my hand.  i did the math, and discovered that i've clocked slightly over 1500 miles on foot in the last ten months.  at this rate, i figure everything that i was in september has run its course probably back at some point out on Ocean Drive one winter night while training for the marathon.  how refreshing.

i could hear the explosions throughout my run while i celebrated my freedom in my own little private way.  it was absolutely a phenomenal feeling.  and i'd like to thank IYAC for being my official water sponsor and providing me with my own "to go" cup.
