cardio BLAST.

after my ten miles of glory last night, i wake up to a text from my bestest asking me if i want to do a group class at the gym this morning- "cardio blast"... do i?  of course.  no one has more energy than me.  in fifteen minutes we were out the door, and at the athletic club getting ready.  the schedule for whatever reason lead us to believe that it was a very brief workout so we got there early to use the rowers and elliptical machines before getting into our high intensity cardio.  (cardio?!  no prob.  i can run a 6:30 mile afterall)

pssshht.  the instructor breaks out the step aerobics gear and i know i am already in trouble.  i am somewhat skilled in the realm of boxing and kickboxing, but my coordination does not extend to step aerobics maneuvers.  forget it.  so not only am i walking over the step the wrong way, kicking with the wrong foot, and generally being a clumsy buffoon, the instructor has to bring jumpropes and floor exercises into the mix.  i can skip rope like nobody's business, however floor exercises are my least favorite activity of it all- i'd rather violate myself with an electric knife while rubbing napalm in my eyes.

guess what- i'm a runner.  if i liked spending a lot of time on my hands and knees i'd be a...  i dunno.  a landscaper.  or a breakdancer or something.   burpees and elephant pushups- good luck trying to get me to do that.  nope.   crawling around on the floor is for people who aren't me.

after 20 minutes or so, i waited for the hell to end.  it didn't.  so after 45 minutes, i hung up my jumprope and put my mat away.  i was bored and fed up with the repetitive motions- not to mention, the instructor wore this stupid flower in her hair and would intermittently let out a loud hooting sound.  "WHOO!"  at the top of her lungs.  i think i'll stick to kickboxing.  but congratulations, though- you've managed to bore the HELL out of someone whose ultimate idea of fun is to run four hours without stopping.    so the standards weren't high to begin with.
