how does one prepare the night before a 22 mile run?  my answer would be with a good old fashioned sailboat race.  the wind piped up pretty steadily out of the south this evening and with the flooding tide, our downwind blast up the bay was fun!  love sailing the south of rose island courses.  plenty of wind tonight-  none of that velocity header and light wind bullshit we dealt with earlier in the season.   no worse for wear.  sadly, our shields season is concluding- but this was my most prolific year yet... no mishaps, no DFLs, no crashes.  just good people, good racing, and lots of laughs.

i didn't eat a ton of food today but scarfed down a whole wheat pasta dinner that i prepared for myself after i got back from Zelda's.  it wasn't that great.  my pasta standards are pretty spectacularly high seeing as i'm an italian person from south jersey who has spent my fair share of time making and eating fresh pasta over yonder in italy with my constituents.  not to brag.   but, as it was, just one of those instances where i was starving so anything would probably have tasted good.  i'm smart enough to realize that although it completely hit the spot, it wasn't my best work.  i was all barefoot and windblown.  my ass was still cold and wet- sunglasses hanging around my neck, sailing shoes still on... stopwatch still counting minutes into the last race because i never cleared it.  looking back, i probably would have done well to order takeout.

yep, tomorrow's the day.  i had three days to rest.  and three is a prophetic figure to me.  all things come in threes.  never twos.  here i am, in bed at a reasonable hour.  looking forward to a beautiful 22 miles tomorrow night.  exciting week.
